Kaiba Japanese Ramen Sushi & Grill in La Verne offers an authentic and vibrant Japanese dining experience that goes far beyond your typical sushi spot. Nestled conveniently at 1263 Foothill Blvd, this eatery impresses with a menu bursting with bold flavors and generous portions that satisfy both sushi lovers and ramen enthusiasts alike.
From the moment you step inside, Kaiba’s warm and inviting atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable meal. The attentive service complements the thoughtfully crafted dishes, making every visit feel welcoming and enjoyable. Here, each dish is a celebration of Japanese cuisine, skillfully balancing rich, umami-packed broths with the freshest seafood and crisp, vibrant vegetables.
The standout offerings begin with their ramen selections. The Spicy Miso Ramen delivers a comforting heat that lingers on the palate, blending perfectly with the creamy tonkotsu broth of their Tonkotsu Ramen. Both soups are rich and robust, with noodles cooked to just the right texture, inviting you to savor every slurp.
For sushi aficionados, Kaiba’s rolls are truly a revelation. The Salmon Roll and Caterpillar Roll feature fresh, skillfully sliced fish layered atop vinegared rice and seaweed, bursting with freshness. Their specialty rolls like the Spicy Garlic Albacore Roll and Rainbow Roll offer complex layers of flavor and texture—a delightful balance of creamy avocado, spicy toppings, and tender fish. The Hungry Man Roll, generously packed and satisfying, perfectly illustrates Kaiba’s commitment to hearty portions that turn sushi into a fulfilling meal rather than just a light snack.
Appetizers such as the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice and Potstickers start the meal with a dynamic crunch and well-seasoned bites that awaken the senses. Their Sauteed Asparagus with sweet soy sauce is a standout veggie dish, offering a crispy, garlicky goodness that complements the rest of the vibrant menu.
Sweet endings are not to be missed at Kaiba, with delights like the Green Tea Ice Cream providing a smooth, cool finish tinted with classic Japanese flavors.
Customers consistently praise Kaiba for its large portions and unbeatable value. As one guest noted, orders here “really are a full meal,” a refreshing change from sushi restaurants where portions often feel insufficient. The variety on the menu is also a highlight—bowls, rolls, ramen, and grills almost impossible to find all in one place elsewhere. Regulars appreciate the friendly service and special drink deals, such as draft beer specials, which round out an already satisfying dining experience.
Whether you’re craving a spicy, hearty bowl of ramen, fresh and vibrant sushi rolls, or an innovative Japanese fusion dish like the Tuna Burrito, Kaiba Japanese Ramen Sushi & Grill in La Verne delivers on all fronts. It’s a destination for those who want their Japanese cuisine bold, fresh, and served with flair—guaranteed to leave you content, full, and eager to return.
Very tasty and large portions, reasonable prices, and good service. Very different from regular sushi restaurants that have smaller portions or not as tasty. Here, one order (such as one sushi roll) really is a full meal. Wide variety of menu items not usually seen at other sushi restaurants. Will definitely return often.
Pros: HUGE specialty rolls — one order is enough to share, or even make it your own meal. The prices are fair and reasonable for the large portion of food you get. We ordered the crispy rice spicy tuna appetizer and it was large and tasty! I think this + a salad + miso soup would be more than ample food. We also enjoyed the soft shell crab appetizer, a tuna poke bowl, and the Hungry Man roll — all was delicious! Excellent, attentive, and friendly service with a smile. Ambiance: casual & clean, with ample seating. Free parking in a shopping lot. Con: surprisingly, there is no sushi combo on the menu. There is sashimi, sashimi combo, and even carpaccio made with raw fish, but no sushi combo, which I found a bit odd for a sushi joint. I was really craving some nigiri sushi in combo form.
The service is great! That's number one! The food is always very good. The sushi is great! For the prices, the rolls are very filling- some other local spots have similar prices, similar rolls, but they're very small! We ordered an appetizer, drinks, and two rolls for two and we're stuffed. Would definitely order three rolls next time just to try more! They currently have great drink specials, so an ice cold Sapporo and a bottle of hot sake is my go to. The spicy rolls are my flavorite, so I'll definitely be getting that again but every roll I've had so far is great! The green tea ice cream was a nice way to finish! Typically don't get dessert but we made some room! One of my new favorite local spots.
Solid place to eat, would definitely come here again. Sauteed asparagus with garlic had enough garlic to share with other dishes and was perfectly crunchy, crispy rice / spicey tuna was spicey and delicious, we ordered an albacore and salmon burrito - they were good but will likely try something different next time. Service is very friendly!! Summer Kirin on draft special at 99¢ was an added bonus… wish this place was here when I lived here!
Ordered the spicy miso soup to go. If you want some spice I suggest not getting the mild. The soup was good and I enjoyed the broth.
Me and my family favorite place to go eat. We never left Since they were grand opening. Very friendly service as well.
Large rolls, deep bowls! I had spicy seafood udon, we shared a caterpillar roll. Also had a beef udon and a rainbow roll. Mango iced tea was super tasty too!!
Whenever I think of ramen and sashimi, my mind always goes to this special place. It’s my favorite spot for ramen, and I truly feel a sense of comfort and happiness every time I visit. They have several locations, including Monterey Park and Garden Grove, making it so accessible for those who share a love for delicious food. This place holds a special spot in my heart.
